East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Road Safety Team, in partnership with Viking FM, conducted a survey of young drivers to find out more about whether they consider themselves to be good drivers and what they are distracted by whilst driving.
The survey shows that 69% of 17-19 year olds believe they are ‘not easily distracted while driving’ and 1 in 10 believe they are easily distracted by their mobile phone while driving.
However, distractions are a major factor in road traffic collisions involving young drivers and due to casualty statistics, young drivers are a priority group for us to engage with.
